A new memoir by journalist Asale Angel-Ajani is an incisive, lyrical exploration of one family’s history that radically overturns American myths about race, violence, and belonging. Angel-Ajani and her twin were the only Black children in a working-class White family. Years later, confused by her personal history, Angel-Ajani dove into the archives, searching for an explanation for her family’s and her country’s contradictions, writing a memoir that critics call courageous, impressive, and deeply powerful. Hers is a personal narrative that brilliantly intersects with the political — “jaw-dropping.” Join us for her book talk on Thursday, November 12 at 5:30pm at The NewSouth Bookstore.
